Overview

Automation and Electronics, Inc. Coal Bed Methane (CBM) RTUInside ViewAutomation and Electronics' Coal Bed Methane RTU (CBMR) is designed to monitor and control the production of a Coal Bed Methane Well, and measure the gas and water production of the well.

This RTU is designed around the SCADAPack LP® controller running RealFLO® Gas Flow software, and is packaged with a Control Microsystems Model 4102 Multi-variable Gas Flow Meter, and a Cutler Hammer Variable Frequency Drive. Automation & Electronics has combined the latest Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware from vendors with years of oilfield experience to provide the customer with a reliable, easily serviceable CBM RTU.

The SCADAPack LP communicates to the VFD and 4102 flow meter via RS-485 high speed serial communication, to gather gas flow data, and monitor and control the VFD. Water production is measured with a standard Turbine Meter, and fed to the RTU for totalization.

Radio communication to a central host computer is typically via a 900 MHz Spread Spectrum Radio network. Any RS-232 data radio can be integrated into this RTU. The unit is powered by an industrially rated 110 VAC / 12 VDC battery backed power supply.
