Overview
SRTU-121 configured for flood warningSurface mine pits are vulnerable to flooding if they are exposed to a large drainage area. Flash flooding can cause equipment damage, personnel injury, or death. A flood warning system can alert management to the situation, and give workers time to prepare.
Automation and Electronics Flood Warning Systems gather readings from end devices and transmit indicated water levels from remote reservoirs, impounds, discharge structures, or diversions to administration, load out, or other designated locations via data radio.
Our industrially rated RTUs, such as the SRTU-121 (pictured), are more reliable than commercial duty systems because they have rugged electronics that do not require heaters or cooling fans. Embedded processors to provide local controls for more complex systems are available. Solar powered units with battery backup provide low cost installation, and years of dependable service.
We will work with certified hydrologists and other licensed professionals to assure compliance with federal and state regulatory programs. We have professional engineers, programmers, technicians, and electricians on staff to insure quality products.
Features
- Transmitted data types may include status only from a proximity switch, or water level from analog transmitters. MODBUS protocol facilitates transmitting and integrating data for a variety of uses.
- Point-to-point or point-to-multi point system configurations are available. The communication architecture can accommodate a wide variety of terrain imposed limitations on and off-site. The use of store and forward capable data radios permits a network of redundant pathways to enhance reliability. A radio path survey provides quality assurance for data transmission.
- Alarms can be screened by local personnel, or fully automated. The notification system is flexible and allows use of pagers, email notification, alarms, recorded announcements, and other means of alerting personnel when the water rises. Readings can be logged and time stamped, displayed, announced, trended, or accumulated. We can custom design a host system to meet your requirements for a stand alone dedicated system, or work with your IT department to integrate the A&E Flood Warning System into your network.
