Surge protection and signal conditioning products

These products protect I/O and Communication devices on controllers.

TTAP RS-485 Signal Protector

This sacrificial field wiring termination board diverts destructive induced voltage spikes on the RS-485 communications wiring to earth ground to prevent damage to equipment.

There are protection devices for 2 separate communications pairs. The signal ground termination allows different ground levels to tie together with 100 Ohm resistors when there is a large difference in ground potential. It can be used on all nodes in a RS-485 communications network. Two wire networks can use either pair.

PTA 110 VAC Power Transient Arrester

The PTA Power Transient Arrester is designed to provide transient surge protection for the 110 VAC power feed to electronic equipment such as controllers, instrumentation equipment, etc.

110 VAC, hot, neutral and ground is brought directly to this board. The PTA is a three stage device that protects the equipment with a combination of parallel varistors, line to ground, and line to line; series inductors, and parallel transorbs, and capacitors, line to ground.

GT-4420 4-20 mA Analog Loop Surge Protection Module

The GT-4420 provides surge protection for four two wire 4-20 mA current loops powered from 24 VDC.

The 4-20 mA field inputs are terminated at 300 V barrier terminals, and are protected with a combination of series resistance, a 230 V gas tube, series inductance, and a 31 V metal oxide varistor. The protected signal lines are then available for connection to analog to digital converters, chart recorders, etcetera.

GT-406 Four Wire Wireline Transient Protector

The GT-406 Four-Wire Transient Protector features transient surge protection for a leased line modem from lightning induced surges on 600 Ohm leased telephone lines.

Balanced 4 wire 600 Ohm transmit and receive audio is fed through this card to provide protection to the modem audio circuitry. The primary protection is provided by three terminal gas tubes to ground. The signal is then passed through inductors in series, and then the device side is protected by a fast acting transorb.

GT-3424 24 VDC Digital Input Gas Tube Protection Module

The GT-3424 provides gas tube protection for up to sixteen single ended inputs, as normally used with 24 VDC digital inputs.

The field inputs are terminated at 300 V barrier terminals, and further protected by a parallel combination of 90 V gas tubes, series inductance, and 31 V MOVs in parallel. The protected signal lines are then available for connection to low voltage electronic circuits via terminal blocks or mass termination connectors.

GT-1420 4-20 mA Analog Loop Surge Protection Module

The GT-1420 provides in-line surge protection for the 4-20 mA 24 VDC analog inputs of chart recorders, meters, PLC's, etcetera.

The analog input signal is protected with a combination of series resistance, a 90 V gas tube, series inductance, and 31 V metal oxide varistor.

FV-001 110 VAC Field Voltage Protection Module

The FV-001 provides MOV and fuse protection for up to sixteen 110 VAC outputs.

The relay outputs are terminated at 300 V barrier terminals and further protected by a 150 VAC metal oxide varistor and 2 A bussman GMT-2 indicating type fuse.

Surge Protection Termination and Signal Conditioning Boards

Our surge protection cards provide protection for analog inputs, discrete inputs and outputs, power lines and communication channels.

Component Products Overview

We also have a wide range of non-integrated products. Some of these are used in our RTU and PLC products and others are sold on their own to other customers who integrate them with their own hardware.
